May 2026 Update

“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven. – Ecclesiastes 3:1.”

The aged King Solomon, as he looks back on his life, takes time to talk about time! God wants us to understand the different seasons of life on earth and the purposes He has for each. For the past 30 years, it has been my privilege to serve as Executive Director and Camp Director of what used to be Bible Conferences and Missions and now Camp Pearl Ministries. At our last Board of Directors’ meeting on April 18th, I announced my retirement from Camp Pearl Ministries, effective August 31, 2026. I do this with absolute joy in my life for the privilege of giving back to a ministry that has given so much to me. Camp Pearl is the place where God placed in my heart the desire to serve Him with my life and fulfill His purpose for me.

As I close out my ministry here, I am thankful to hand the reins over to Doug McBride, who will replace me. So, these next few months will be a transition of sorts, and we will phase in his role as Executive Director. Nathan McBride will be joining in August as Doug’s assistant in his ministry here.

Planning is almost complete for another great season of ministry through our summer camps! Early registration is now over, and the number of students registering thus far is higher than in past years at this point.

We will meet some of the Summer Servers at our Annual Fellowship Sunday on May 31, beginning at 4:30 PM in our chapel here at Camp Pearl. We will end with a delicious barbecue dinner at 6:00 PM, and we hope you can join us!

We thank the Lord for your prayerful support of this ministry. We value your friendship and fellowship in the Lord!

Blessings,

R. Don Barrett
Executive Director
Camp Pearl Ministries

Brother Don, I am happy for you to be arriving at a place of transition in which both what lies behind you and what waits ahead are blessed and ordained by our Mighty God. Camp Pearl has become a treasure to me in so many ways. I am hoping to be there this year for at least the next week if not more. Life is a tangle and my plans are far from being my own in these chaotic days. I will need will redouble my prayers to be there so that I can be blessed to be in your company again. Truly, I am happy for you and Angie to make this transition to a different adventure together.
